Welcome Albertville’s New Sales Agronomist

Jun 13, 2022

Karson Schoening, new Federated ag sales rep in Albertville.
With only one week on the job, Karson Schoening is already scouting fields, working with Kevin Carlson (agronomy sales manager), and meeting growers around Albertville. As Schoening onboards with Federated as a new agronomy sales rep, he looks forward to building relationships with area farmers.

Schoening grew up on a 1500-acre family farm that has expanded to 2000 acres (plus 100 head of cattle) in Rolla, ND. “My dad and brother are running that,” he said.

Moving from the far-northern edge of North Dakota to Fargo, Schoening earned his degree from NDSU in crop and weed science with a focus in agronomy. He then worked as a custom applicator and scale shack operator for Minn-Kota Ag Products, Inc. in the southern Red River Valley, and spent a year working for BASF as an assistant wheat breeder.

He and his fiancée (a champion NDSU track and field thrower headed to national and potentially world competition!) decided they wanted to move to east-central Minnesota, and thus Schoening began his job search.

His interviews with the Federated Agronomy leaders demonstrated that Federated “would be a good place … and good people to work with,” he said.

Schoening said, “I want to show [growers] that I make a good fit with their farm … with the co-op … and their needs.” He said he is ready to “learn [growers’] habits … and what they seek out” from their Federated salespeople.

Be sure to introduce yourself and give Schoening a hearty welcome when he and other Federated Agronomists are out and about in area fields.
