Is Your RUP License Current?

Feb 15, 2023

RUP certification and licensure is required to haul pesticides.
When it’s time to purchase, transport, or apply pesticides this spring, Federated will ask for your Restricted Use Pesticides (RUP) license. Is yours current?

Details on licensure are available at this link. If you aren’t sure about the status of your license, go to this link and you can look up your license to verify its validity. You can also call 651.201.6615 to inquire about your license status.

Additionally, said, Annamarie Zach, Federated ag sales rep at the Rush City location, “your license must be in our system at Federated for [any] purchase to go through.” Provide your license info/number to your Federated Agronomist in advance of the time you will need it – before ordering or picking up product.

It’s generally understood that all restricted use pesticides must be applied by a licensed user, but even hauling restricted use products requires a license.

If you have never obtained RUP certification, go to this page and start the application and testing process. This link will take you to the study materials – and other important certification information.

Once the season is underway and your certification is complete, you need your license when purchasing, transporting, and applying pesticides, so keep it with you.

Zach noted the other safety consideration when handling restricted use pesticides: proper PPE. “Read the label and understand the proper PPE (gloves, goggles, respirators, etc.) needed to mix and apply pesticides,” she said.

Call your Federated Agronomist with any questions about licensure or custom application of restricted use products in the 2023 growing season.
