Yes, the cost of fertilizer is high. Yes, Russia is a big supplier of fertilizer to the world market. And yes, that supply is now cut off. But . . .
 
Yes, you can be assured that Federated has already been working with the supply chain that was disrupted by the pandemic, and because of those efforts, “We have fertilizer in place for the season,” said Ken O’Brien, Federated’s director of purchasing and logistics.
 
The other good news, according to O’Brien, is that “grain prices remain strong.” Plus, he noted that crop insurance guarantees are very good – “farmers should take advantage” of that.
 
Thus, since yield is king, and because commodity prices are doing well, this year it is even more important to maximize yields through good fertilization. Fertilizer prices are “firming up,” said O’Brien.
