It’s tempting to plant the soybeans, spray for weeds, and hope crop genetics and good weather will bring out the yields. But don’t stop there! A proven fungicide could further boost your yields – and your ROI.
Without a doubt, crop inputs are pricey, but the value of a good fungicide goes beyond treating or suppressing the diseases you may or may not see today (such as white mold). With fungicide treatments, “the overall benefit is a healthy crop,” said Don Lamker, Federated ag sales rep serving Ogilvie and Rush City.
A proven fungicide with multiple modes of action, such as Miravis® Neo from Syngenta, “keeps those beans green and healthy, filling pods for a longer period of time,” said Lamker. Any kind of stress will put the beans into fight mode – they try to “fight off disease on their own instead of putting energy into producing the crop.”
Lamker said he’s seen yield improvement “100% of the time” in side-by-side comparisons of fungicide treated vs. untreated fields. “Over the years, I’ve always been able to show enough yield advantage to more than pay for the cost of the fungicide,” he said.
