ARE YOU CERTIFIED TO APPLY RESTRICTED USE PESTICIDES?

Mar 08, 2021

Federated offers custom application services for restricted use pesticides and other crop inputs, and if you use those services, you do not need certification to purchase those products and services. But, private pesticide application (PPA) certification is required if you apply your own chemicals, such as atrazine, and insecticides (based on product label requirements).

PPA certification to apply restricted use pesticides (RUPs) is offered through the University of Minnesota Extension Service as well as the University of Wisconsin Division of Extension. Certification courses are available online, as are the necessary exams. The requirements for certification and/or recertification vary between states (online vs. in person vs. mail-in), so check the websites for details to ensure your timely receipt of certification for the 2021 growing season.

Timelines are limited for certification and renewal yet this year, so don’t wait to follow up on the status of your certification.

Federated is required to see proof of certification when purchasing RUPs, so keep your certification card handy. Talk to your Federated Agronomist to learn more about custom application services for 2021.
