Applicator Machine Gets Enthusiastic Review
May 14, 2025

A group of ag students from Monticello High School (MHS) had the chance to check out Federated’s high-tech application equipment on April 25th, and their enthusiasm was fun to watch.
Sam Johnson, Federated ag sales rep at Albertville (pictured with students, second from left), is a graduate of MHS and has close ties with the school’s ag teacher, Jacob Wilts (another MHS grad, pictured, far left). Wilts invited Johnson to be an “instructor for the day” in one of his ag classes.
With Federated’s approval, Johnson drove the John Deere 403R from the Albertville location to MHS and parked it outside the school. He demonstrated how the sprayer’s booms extended, described its advanced technology, and gave the students a chance to climb into the cab and check it all out.
Rod Gustafson, Federated’s Albertville location manager, said the “students were pretty pumped to see the machine,” causing him to speculate there might be a new class of custom applicators in a few years, after the students graduate!
Federated is pleased to see students engaged in the new vocational-agricultural education program at MHS. We look forward to welcoming graduates into the ag business in the years ahead!
