Soybean Seed Treatment Options for a Better Start

Federated agronomists learned about seed treatments at the Seedc
CruiserMaxx® APX is Syngenta’s powerful 19-ingredient seed treatment formulated to protect soybeans from early season disease and insects.

Anna Zack, Federated ag sales rep, said, “With added disease fighting molecules, soybean growers can experience early season protection, more vigor affect, better plant stands, faster canopy closure, and better ROI.”

Two diseases, Pythium and Phytopthora, rob yield early in the season, and CruiserMaxx APX stands behinds its ability to protect against these diseases.
  • Pythium causes reduced plant stands, stunting, damping off, and up to 30% reduced yield potential.
  • Phytopthora causes damping off, stem and root rot, seedling blight, and can kill soybean plants.

CruiserMaxx APX also “protects against against Fusarium and Rhizoctonia, as well as all major seed-borne diseases and early-season insects, such as soybean aphids and thrips” (see this link)

Zack, who attended The Seedcare Institute in Stanton, MN, last week, learned how CruiserMaxx APX can help “ensure early plant establishment uniformity.”

CruiserMaxx APX is powered by Picarbutrazox. A product demonstration at the Institute showed petri dishes with soybeans infected with Pythium. One sample showed the untreated seed with Pythium overtaking the soybean seeds, killing them in the petri dish. In the second sample, seeds treated with CruiserMaxx APX were protected against Pythium and started germinating in the petri dish.
