SIRRUS: A GREAT SPACE FOR FIELD AND CROP INFO

Apr 26, 2021

The Sirrus app by Proagrica, adopted by Federated a number of years ago, “has been a great tool for Federated Agronomists and customers,” said Mike Slater, agronomy sales rep at Federated’s Isanti location.

Sirrus is exceptionally useful “for precision ag – grid sampling, creating management zones, etc. – but also as a storage center for fields, planning, and much more,” he said. As a grower himself, Slater uses the app to map out all of his own fields, in addition to those of his customers.

“When it comes to planning for next year, or scouting [this year], we have record of acres, locations, and field names all in one spot. Once fields are added to the system, we can continue to utilize the program by saving fertilizer, chemical, ad seed plans in the app,” Slater said.

Growers on an Apple platform can download the Sirrus app (not yet available for Android) to take advantage of streamlined info sharing; both growers and Federated Agronomists can seamlessly share info and keep each other abreast of changes. Growers without the app can enjoy the benefits of Sirrus via email reports, another convenient way to share plans, recommendations, scouting reports, and other in-season info.

The Sirrus app is free, but a paid, premium version adds features such as scouting, NDVI imagery, precipitation measurements, and other app customizations. Watch for further info on Sirrus features in a late May edition of the Agronomy Update.
