Seed Choice, Pre-buy, and Financing for 2026

Federated is ready to help with seed choice, pre-buy, and financing for the coming year.

We are “eager to help you pick the best seed to be placed on all your acres,” said Annamarie Blazek, manager at Federated’s Rush City location. “We have multiple options for bulk soybeans … and great options for corn seed also,” she said. Check out the plot data before you choose seed.

The earlier orders are placed, the better, and “when you pre-buy your inputs you can take advantage of locking in your supply and minimizing stress heading into spring,” said Kelly Meyer, Federated business service specialist.

Meyer also pointed out that early orders get discounts, and the ability to avoid the “unknown in-season price jumps.” Additionally, pre-buy reduces your exposure to supply chain delays.

It’s no secret that the best products are in high demand and can sell out (see Discovery Plot and Answer Plot® data for specific hybrid and variety comparisons), and the best seed product for your specific acres may be one of the hot products for 2026 – the ones that are only available during the pre-buy period.

This is the best time of year to sit down and have a good conversation with your Federated Agronomist. That discussion goes a long way to formulating your crop plans – and helping the co-op prepare to meet your needs. Blazek noted that something as simple as determining whether Federated will deliver your seed or you will pick it up can keeps things on track come spring.

Additionally, this is the time to discuss financing. “Our primary partner for crop financing is Cooperative Finance Association (CFA),” said Meyer.

“With CFA you can leverage credit designed specifically for seed, fertilizer, and crop protection … you can secure pricing now and pay after harvest,” Meyer said. Federated also offers financing through Rabo AgriFinance and John Deer Financial. Federated’s two finance programs for 2026 include very competitive interest rates. See the details here.

With your seed decisions made and financing lined up, “you order the product, and we go out and buy it, so it is sitting in our plant ready for you when you need it [in the Spring],” said Meyer. “The more information we know,” said Blazek, “the easier spring will be for all of us.”

Imagine the 2026 growing season with “a well-defined crop plan, secure pricing, margin protection, and smoother cash flow – all before the first field is planted!” said Meyer.
