Pre-emerge Recommendations for Corn Are Here

The snow will be gone before you know it, so there’s no time like the present to start considering your corn pre-emergence herbicides. Karson Schoening, ag sales representative for Federated’s Ogilvie location, offered a few recommendations to help nail down your choices.
“Starting with a pre-emerge herbicide will protect your yield and help keep the field cleaner throughout the crop year,” Schoening said. “Corn does not like competition in the field. Cleaner corn fields will also help with weed control the following year in your soybeans.”

Some products Schoening recommends:

• Palace™ II, which is a premix of Dual Magnum® and Calisto®
• Resicore® REV by Corteva™, which is a premix of Acetachlor, Calisto, and Stinger®
• Outlook® Herbicide, which Schoening said “…is our choice for impregnating fertilizer because it is safe to use on both corn and soybeans.”

“We have these products on hand and ready to use,” Schoening said. “But even though these are the products that we have on hand, we are not limited to these specific products. If there are any products that you are looking for or have questions about, contact your Federated  Agronomist.”
