Federated’s custom services are highly dependent on clear communication between you and your Federated Agronomist. Keep us notified of your various delivery and service needs before you find yourself waiting.

Fertilizer and chemical applications, as well as bulk seed and bulk fertilizer deliveries, are highly dependent advance notification.

Custom spring-applied fertilizer requires plenty of notice, according to Brad Hipsag, Federated ag sales rep in Ogilvie.

“Don’t wait until the tillage equipment is hooked up and waiting in the field to call with acres to spread.  Let us spread fertilizer a day or two before any planned tillage passes,” said Hipsag.

For no-till fields being spread with fertilizer, “let us know a couple days before you intend to plant so you’re not waiting on Federated” to get the planter in the fields, Hipsag noted.

And don’t forget to let us know the crop and fertilizer recipe being used on any fields we will service. (The FieldAlytics app is a great way to expedite the sharing of that information – and it’s all recorded in one place.)

Help us maintain the spreading equipment by ensuring fields are generally smooth. Bouncing over ground that received aggressive fall tillage is very hard on spreaders, and progress is slowed.

For soybean pre-emerge applications with their tight three-day, post-planting application window, “let us know a day or two before you intend to plant,” he said. Federated plans application routes according to need and notice. The more notice provided, the better chance of everything timing out well.

And finally, bulk deliveries also need good communication. “If you will be running late hours, let us know we can get … a refill immediately in the morning to keep you rolling.”

Communicate early and often with your Federated Agronomist. As Hipsag said, “Our goal is to keep you moving with as little disruption to you as possible.”
