Crops Planted, Emerging, and Ready for Herbicides

Most of the corn and a significant percentage of soybeans are in the ground – and there are pockets of well-emerged crops in some soils across Federated’s service areas. As we move further into the growing season, Kevin Carlson, Federated’s agronomy sales manager, said, “watch those crops as they emerge; check the stands” – and look for weeds.

Get those pre-emerge and early post-emerge herbicides sprayed, which, if you are using Federated’s custom app services, requires good communication with Federated. “Come in and talk to us so we know what’s out there,” said Carlson.

Don’t wait to contact us about spraying. The custom applicators are spraying all across Federated areas, and their routes are mapped for the most efficient use of time. Be sure to “talk to us early,” he said, and “get your fields in the queue.”

Remember that residual herbicide action can benefit control of tough weeds like waterhemp, especially in soybeans. Carlson said, “And for corn, ‘row and go’ with early post-emerge products such as Halex® GT and Acuron®GT.” Both products offer good residual action.

Keep your Federated Agronomist well informed on your acres throughout the season, but most especially at this “crazy” time of year. We are here to help you maximize yield potential.
