Communicate Custom Application Needs Early

Federated Co-ops strives to provide efficient custom application services no matter what the season delivers. Keeping your Federated team informed of your plans will further improve our ability to serve growers in this unpredictable spring.
Ryan Peterson, Federated agronomy sales rep at the Osceola location, said, “Please don’t wait until the last minute to place an order for custom application services.” With orders in the queue, Federated can efficiently dispatch operators each day and make the best use of time.
Peterson offered this example: If you see your neighbor’s fields being sprayed in the morning, that doesn’t necessarily mean the applicator can tend to your field that afternoon. Growers who call ahead can be assured of the most timely custom application services.
And in a late-coming spring, time will be of the essence.
When ordering custom application services, provide good documentation: what was planted – varieties, traits – in each field, etc. “This is very important,” said Peterson. (See related Seed Tag article.)
Also remember to inform Federated of changes on your farm: new fields, border changes, sensitive areas, driveways. “No one likes a surprise at the last minute,” so contact your Federated Agronomist with this information well before the applicator is heading to your farm.
Last but not least, be sure to have your 2022 Product Service Policy (PSP) signed and on file with Federated before the spraying season starts. This is essential.
