CruiserMaxx® APX: The ‘Gold Standard’ of Seed Treatment

Federated Co-ops’ state-of-the-art seed treatment facility in Ogilvie this year will offer a new and improved CruiserMaxx® base treatment for soybeans: CruiserMaxx APX.
This treatment features a new formulation and active ingredient, making this “great product even better,” said Kevin Carlson, Federated’s agronomy sales manager. “Syngenta’s CruiserMaxx APX is the gold standard in seed treatments,” he said.
Why a new formulation when the old product worked so well? “To prevent resistance to pythium and phytophthora,” said Rob Johnson, seed treatment specialist with Rosen’s. He explained how the lessons learned from Roundup’s one mode of action used over and over again have “made us look at how we can make chemistries like CruiserMaxx work longer.” With CruiserMaxx APX, the goal is to “be proactive to avoid resistance,” he said.
Seed treatment is “a rock-solid” crop management practice, "especially when soybeans are $14 plus," Carlson observed. CruiserMaxx APX offers “supercharged early season protection from disease and insects.” Specifically, according to the Syngenta fact sheet, it protects against:
