Weekly Agronomy Update
By: Kevin Carlson, Certified Professional Agronomist, Federated Coops, Inc.

The crops around the area look good but there are some concerns in the soybeans right now. Brown Spot in soybeans is widespread around the trade area and is spreading in the canopy of the soybean crop. The weather conditions are favoring the development of this fungal disease. Treatment with a fungicide would be recommended at this time, especially with the stage of the crop (R-2) and the price soybeans are trading at today. Soybean aphids are also a concern. We have found some fields needing treatment for high aphid infestations. They are not a problem in every field at this time but we have found some fields with more than 250 aphids per plant and needing treatment. Please contact your local Federated Agronomy Center for more information.
